A Russian drone attack hit a residential building and energy facilities in Odesa on Tuesday evening, resulting in one death and eight injuries. The assault also caused significant damage to local heating resources.

Oleh Kiper, the Odesa regional governor, reported that a multi-storey residential building was destroyed in the city center. He noted that several apartments caught fire and around 30 cars were damaged. Photos shared by Kiper on Telegram showed flames and smoke coming from the building, with firefighters responding to the scene.

The attack also impacted the city’s heating supply, as the main heating pipeline was damaged, leading to the temporary shutdown of a boiler plant crucial for maintaining warmth in Odesa. Kiper emphasized that repair work is currently ongoing, but the heating infrastructure for one of the city’s maternity hospitals was also affected.

While Kiper identified the attack as being carried out by drones, Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov referred to it as a “mass combined enemy strike,” indicating the possibility of additional weaponry being involved.

The situation remains tense as emergency services work to repair the damage and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
