The Head of Laity at St. Jude Sub Parish Church, Fredrick Kirunda, has called upon all security agencies to increase security in the country because people are now constantly living in fear and scared to be on the streets due to the current insecurity incidents in the country.
Kirunda made these remarks following a burglary incident that happened at St. Jude Sub Parish Church in Nakasozi, Buddo, on May 24, 2024, at 2:00 a.m.
While being interviewed by journalists on May 24, 2024, Kirunda revealed that unidentified thugs came to the church, broke all door locks, entered the church, and robbed every valuable thing it had.
Kirunda added that the thugs came with a truck, which was used to transport all the stolen church items. The items that were stolen include a money safe that had church offertories, music systems, different music instruments, a projector, two fans, two sound amplifiers, a printer, things used during Holy Communion, and many more.
‘’We need to pray for Uganda because every day thieves use different styles to steal from people, which is alarming and worrying too, hence making us live in constant fear, which is so unhealthy,’’ Kirunda revealed.
He also said that it is so sad and scary that thieves nowadays do not fear stealing from churches, which shows how people are so determined to break the law without fearing the consequences’ that they might face.
The Head of Laity called upon police and other security agencies to heighten security in Nakasozi in Buddo because, of late, there are many cases of insecurity.
Kirunda also further urged the youth to work hard and stop making money through easy and unlawful ways but rather engage in small-scale projects so as to earn money, but in a righteous and lawful manner.
There is a surge of many incidents of crime, some documented on street cameras around Kampala that reveal shocking scenes of thieves attacking and harming victims before they strip them of their belongings.
Security analysts have called upon Police to adopt a culture and method of investigating and concluding all cases urging that criminals take advantage of the fact that these cases are never followed up to dot. According to a security analyst, Police Criminal investigating department should use a method where they allocate case officers and ensure that such incidences are investigated whether there is or not a victim following up with the case. “These are state cases to solve,” the analyst said.
