The Uganda Revenue Authority Board (URA) has reported the reappointment of John Rujoki Musinguzi as its Commissioner General.

The URA board, through their X account, confirmed that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reappointed Musinguzi as the commissioner general for a four-year second term.

“This momentous occasion reflects the unwavering trust and support extended by President Museveni and Mattia Kasija, Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, and the board of URA. The collective endorsement shows a unified commitment to our fiscal integrity and prosperity,” the board members said.

Musinguzi appreciated and thanked the President, Minister of Finance, and URA board for the trust and confidence they bestowed upon him.

“I’m profoundly honored by the trust and confidence bestowed upon me by H.E. Kaguta Museveni, Hon. Matia Kasija, and the URA Board. I look forward to continuing to rally and guide the dedicated URA team in our commitment to Uganda’s self-sustenance. Glory to God!” he stated.

In March 2020, Musinguzi, a former Senior Presidential Advisor on ICT and Investment Matters and a computer scientist, was appointed as the Commissioner General of the URA.
Under Musinguzi’s leadership, revenue collection has grown by over 50.48% from UGX 16,751.64 billion in FY 2019/20 (the time he joined URA) to UGX 25,209.05 billion in FY 2022/23.

Uganda has also recorded the highest tax-to-GDP ratio⏤14 percent, the highest in 33 years. This was achieved during FY 2022–23, according to statistics from the authority.
