Oringo Bosco, a 27-year-old private security guard working with Daron Security Company and a resident of Mbuya, Kampala District, allegedly shot and killed two purported burglars.

ASP , the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said that the incident happened on December 5, 2023, at Kira Road Division, Kampala Metropolitan East, at approximately 0750 hrs.

According to Owoyesigyire, Morris Ocan, a 53-year-old resident and private security guard for Inken Distributors Limited of Bukoto, old Kira Road, Nakawa Division, Kampala District, reported an incident in which two alleged burglars were shot. Ocen stated that Oringo shot Patrick Okema, 34 years old, from Kitgum, and Dennis Sekiwiro, 38 years old, from Dokolo.

“Oringo Bosco, who was on duty at Betimo Inken offices along old Kira Road, claimed to have encountered three intruders around midnight,” Owoyesigyire said.

“He asserted that, while on the wall fence, he observed two individuals attempting to break into the office. Allegedly, one of the intruders was armed, prompting Bosco to open fire in self-defence, resulting in the unfortunate demise of Patrick and Dennis,” Owoyesigyire added.

Owoyesigyire also said that the crime scene was looked at by a group of officers that included homicide, SOCO (Scene of Crime Officer), crime intelligence, and uniformed officers. During the search, several items were found, including a sharp iron bar that could break doors, and a comprehensive case file was opened to help with the investigation.

He added that the weapon used in the shooting, an axe saw blade head, identification cards belonging to the deceased individuals, and fingerprints were lifted from the damaged door.

“The bodies have been conveyed to the city mortuary pending post-mortem examinations,” Owoyesigyire said.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, and any updates will be communicated by the police.
