Dr Aggrey Kiyingi, a Ugandan cardiologist who lived in Australia and was on Uganda’s wanted list, died in Sydney at the age of 69.
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, his wife, Mayimuna Nakayiira Kiyingi, revealed the news.

“It is with immense sadness and a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of my beloved husband, Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi. He peacefully departed from our lives. Words cannot express the depth of grief and sorrow we feel as we come to terms with this profound loss,” Mayimuna said.

Kiyingi had lived in Australia since 1982 and was wanted in Uganda on allegations of terrorism, attempted murder, and crimes against humanity in connection with the killings of Muslim clerics in 2015 and 2016.

The deceased was also suspected of murdering his wife, Robinah Kiyingi, in July 2005.

Kiyingi under the pseudo name Nathan Span, has also been accused of assisting Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) with financial and logistical support in connection with multiple killings and explosions in Uganda and Eastern Congo.

Kiyingi proclaimed his intention to run for president in 2016 and 2021, vowing to easily defeat incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.
The exact cause of Dr. Kiyingi’s death will be revealed soon.
