4-Month-Old Baby Detained by Rosewell Hospital Reunited with Parents

The parents of the four-month-old baby who Rosewell Hospital detained in May 2023, Alinda Mugenyi and Solome Alinda, have been reunited with their child.

Salome received Baby Alinda Khyst on Friday, September 22, 2023, after Civil Division Judge Esther Nambayo of Kampala High Court received results from the Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) and confirmed that the two were her biological parents.

Baby Alinda was detained by Rosewell Hospital at birth after her parents failed to clear a UGX 4 million outstanding bill in nursery fees at Roswell Hospital.

On August 30, 2023, Justice Nambayo ordered a DNA test on the child after the baby that was in the hands of a baby’s home was brought to court to possibly be reunited with its parents.

The hearing of the main case and cross-examination of both sides has been scheduled for October 17, 2023.
