AFCON Qualification: Cameroon, Burundi, and Namibia Battle for Two Remaining Slots

Cameroon, Burundi, and Namibia are currently engaged in a fierce competition for the final two coveted spots in the prestigious Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2023 lineup. As the fate of all three nations hangs in the balance, the competition is bound to be intense as they all compete for a spot in the tournament.

All three members of Group C have an opportunity to qualify for the upcoming edition in Ivory Coast next year, as there is only one match left.

Five-time champions On Tuesday 12, September, an important match between Cameroon and Burundi will not only determine the fate of the two teams, but also impact Namibia.

Namibia is currently leading the group with five points and will secure a comfortable qualification if the tie between Cameroon, who are in second place with four points, and Burundi, who are in third place, results in a clear winner.

On Sunday, Gambia managed to overcome a two-goal deficit and secure a draw against Congo Brazzaville, thereby securing their spot in the final for the second year in a row.

The teams that qualified on Sunday will join the following countries at the finals: DR Congo, Mauritania, Mozambique, Algeria, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Angola, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, and Zambia. Additionally, Ivory Coast automatically qualified as hosts.
