Uganda is set to hold a three-day expo that will run from September 7 to September 9, 2023, at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) show grounds to shape the future of medical care services in Uganda.

The medical expo was organised by Medxpo Africa Events in partnership with the Cancer Institute, the Red Cross, the Uganda Heart Institute, and National Drug Stores to improve medical infrastructure in Uganda.

Dr. Daniel Tumwiine, the founder and chief executive officer at the International Pediatric Group, said while speaking to journalists on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Children’s Clinic in Nalya, that the expo’s main purpose is a literacy campaign that will educate the population on how to prioritise their health and well-being.

“Ugandans should take advantage of the on-site health screening services and stay informed about their health,” said Tumwiine.

Dr. Tumwiine also advised the public to avoid self-diagnosis and treatment, which can lead to more complications, enhancing the severity of the disease.

Dr. Blair Kizza, a general practitioner at Aga Khan University, noted that this expo is an innovation in networking and knowledge sharing for health care professionals and those in business in the health care industry.

Dr. Kizza states that over 50 health care professionals, 40 hospitals, and over 100 health products and services will be present during the expo.

Medical practitioners have urged the public to take advantage of the show, do screenings, and seek treatment for various illnesses.
