The first Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga is in Italy to officiate at the 40th edition of the Macfrut International Trade Fair.
The 40th edition of Macfrut, the international trade fair with over 1,100 exhibitors for the fruit and vegetable industries, will take place at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy from May 3rd to May 5th.
The Minister, who also doubles as the Minister for East African Affairs, is expected to address international technical and scientific issues and major global business exporters, including the US-based berry company Driscolls, the Australian Costa Group, and the East African Entrepreneurs Association, among others.
The minister’s participation in the Macfrut trade fair is well captured and in line with the National Development Plan under the Agro-industrialization and Private Sector Development that the Ministry of East African Community Affairs Uganda puts its weight behind.
The trade fair will combine three assets that are strategic for the growth of the fruit and vegetable sector: business, knowledge, and networking.
The focus will be on fruit and vegetables since this sector plays a key role in the Italian agri-food industry.
