Following President Museveni’s new directives, government has announced that they will broadcast and print out samples of genuine and original certificates of Covid-19 vaccination in order to avoid duplication,
Hon.Chris Baryomunsi the Minister for ICT and National Guidance confirmed the development while talking to Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) on Saturday 3rd December 2022.
This follows President Museveni’s national address on Health Matters where he directed resurrection of Covid-19 control measures on Friday, 2nd December 2022.
“Covid-19 is still around and there’s a compliance that was set in for people to think that Covid-19 is no more, yet World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet declared it over, “ Baryomunsi said.
He added that the government has been monitoring and saw a slight increase in positivity average rates from 0.4% to 1.2%.
The revised recommendations by the National Covid-19 Task Force where Minister Baryomunsi sit noted that to reduce cases of duplication of certificates, genuine cards will be published.
“We are going to be publishing on televisions and other social platforms the genuine cards and how they look like so as the organizers can be able to differentiate between the forged certificates and genuine certificates, “ Baryomunsi revealed.
He added appealed to the public to avoid forging certificates if they are have not received full vaccination as recommended by medical doctors.
Baryomunsi advised organizers of public events to ensure people attending have certificates of vaccination of at least 24 hours before accessing the venues.
The President also directed the ministry of health to re-launch the vaccination exercise so that Ugandans eligible for vaccination aged from 12 years get the vaccine.
He also encouraged Ugandans not to fear the Vaccine since no one has been affected by it neither has it caused any health threats to people.
