Ebola is a virus that causes severe bleeding, organ failure and can lead to death if not treated early. Since 1976 the virus has been infecting people from time to time, leading to outbreaks in several African countries, including Uganda currently.
Initial Symptoms of Ebola virus include fever, headache, muscle pain and chills. Later, a person may experience internal bleeding resulting in vomiting or coughing blood. One will experience pain in the abdomen, chest, and the joints, as well as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, eye redness, mental confusion and a sore throat.
Infected people may spread the virus to others through fluids such as blood.
Ministry of Health has come up with an active 24hours emergency response desk, where a person can report all suspected cases of Ebola. One can call the toll-free number (0800299000) or send a message to 8500 to report any incident.

A joint security team has arrested Frank Ssemwogerere David aka Ndugwa, the overall commander for Uganda Coalition Front for Change (UCFC), a newly formed rebel group that has carried out attacks in Wakiso, Mityana and Kiboga among other places, killing mostly security officers and robbing their guns.
According to Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, they tracked the overall commander of the group, with the help of the prior arrested gang members.

Ugandan movies “Tembele” by Morris Mugisha and “No Way Out”, an animation by Ashraf Mulima bagged awards at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) that were held in Lagos, Nigeria yesterday, 31st October 2022. Tembele won Best Achievement in Cinematography while “No Way Out” won Best Animation. Tembele is also representing Uganda at the 95th Oscars Awards.

7 unknown gunmen attacked Busiika police station in Luweero district, and killed the OC CID for the station, Detective Inspector Alex Wagaluka, Constable Moses Ongol and injured others, who are currently admitted to Bombo Military General Hospital.
Forensic experts recovered a pistol that fell as the assailants fled from the scene and will be subjected for further ballistic examination.

The Principle Private Secretary (PPS) to the President, Dr. Kenneth Omona denounced a letter purportedly written by him scheduling a meeting with Cyber Security Experts. In the letter dated 28th October 2022, Dr. Omona told the general public to totally disregard the letter and its contents because it is baseless and false. He advised the public to always report such cases to the State House Anti-corruption Unit (SHACU).

While presenting research papers at the Women Empowerment Conference at Silver Springs Hotel recently, Tabitha Mulyampiti, a senior lecturer at the School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University revealed that 46% of savings that are unbanked belong to women saving groups.

The Rotary Club of Muyenga Breeze on Sunday had a walk run of 4km in the areas of Katabi Entebbe, Wakiso district to create awareness about hydrocephalus and spina bifida among the locals. Cynthia Baitwa, the president Rotary Club of Muyenga Breeze noted that sensitizing or creating awareness seemed not to be enough, but collecting funds for operating the affected children should be urgent.

An unknown fire broke out at Lutoboka landing site in Kalangala Town Council yesterday night and destroyed property worth millions of shillings. The affected properties included shops, residential structures and a Beach Management Unit office, where one boat engine and other items were being kept.

Tension is high among Karenga district local government officials following life-threatening leaflets listing the names of the officials to be gunned down. It comes two days after unidentified gunmen shot dead the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Simon Peter Omony at his residence in Karenga town council. Those on the list include the LC V Chairperson, Felix Locale, Riews Ilukol, and Peter Abaach Peter.

Three children drowned in an incomplete valley dam in Adudul ‘B’ Village, Ousia parish, Apapai sub-county in Kalaki district. The district LCV chairperson, Samuel Okello identified the deceased as Fred Ochen, 14, Kizito Ochen, 10, and James Echodu, 13. The Kalaki district Police Commander Edison Muhangi said that it was an accident.

The Rukungiri Municipality Mayor, His Worship Charles Makuru was summoned by the High Court to appear before it on 26th November 2022 to defend himself against charges of alleged assault. Makaru is accused for assaulting Elias Murangira who was an employee at Mugarura Kaharata’s General hardware which is located in Kifunjo cell, Eastern Division in Rukungiri Municipality.

Northern Uganda State Minister, Grace Freedom Kwiyuchiny has urged Yumbe residents to make proper use of the available land in the district to embrace large scale farming to transform their lives. Kwiyuchiny made the appeal during the launch of a 145-hectare block farm for women in the district. Kwiyuchiny said Yumbe residents are blessed with vast land and what remains is how to make wealth out of it without selling it off.
