The Grade One Magistrate Fedelis Otwoa remanded nine students until 14th December 2022 to hear a case in which they are accused of holding unlawful demonstration in support of a resolution by the European Union Parliament to delay the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

The National Drug Authority Public Relations Manager, Abiaz Rwamwiri told the press that drugs and other assorted medical equipment worth one billion shillings were recovered from drug stores belonging to a Pharmacist at Kitgum General Hospital identified as Robert Akena.
The medical supplies recovered from Akena’s stores include those of anti-malarial drugs like coartem, paracetamol, injectable antibiotics, painkillers, and medical supplies such as test kits, safety gear and PPEs, COVID-19 supplies, baby weighing scales, and an oxygen concentrator.

Ugandan Cabinet Ministers will start undergoing compulsory Kiswahili lessons to enhance their proficiency in the language, effective next week . The development was revealed by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga on Wednesday.
Kadaga was speaking during the opening ceremony of the second annual East African Court of Justice (EACJ) judicial conference at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

According to the clerk to parliament Ms. Catherine Namuddu, Parliament committee on health oversight is to visit Namayingo District health centers to assess the state of health service delivery in the district, availability of staff in the health centers, state of infrastructure and majorly the performance of health workers.

The Chief Administrative Officer has handed over land located at Bumango Village in Namunasa Parish, Kachonga Sub-County to contractors to start constructing Muhula Seed Secondary School. This school is estimated to be worthy Ugx2.931 billion. The RDC warned the contractor against doing shoddy work.

The RDC Namisindwa, Bangu Fredrick Aggrey revealed that Government distributed digital machines to all government aided schools to monitor the attendance of teachers in schools.
He added that the digital machines were distributed among 95 primary schools, Seven Secondary schools and one Technical School under the Teacher Effective and Learner Achievement (TELA) program.

According to Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, they recovered a one-day-old baby who had been stolen from a 20-year-old mother Aisha Namutebi, four hours after delivery from Mityana hospital. Kawala stated that preliminary findings indicate that the motive of the suspect, Nakalanzi Prossy, 40, a resident of Kassambya, Watuba parish, Kikandwa Sub-County was to please her husband who was asking her to bear him a child.

Over 7000 Congolese asylum seekers that fled a resumed war between the M23 rebels and Congolese forces (FARDC) in some parts of Eastern Congo last week are stuck in Kisoro District. The refugees are currently staying in Ugandan communities near the Democratic Republic of Congo including Bunagana Market, Bunagana Primary School compound, Kibaaya land, bushes of Muramba, while others are seeking shelter on verandas in Bunagana town council and mostly Kisoro District.

Police in Kole District arrested Nawedde Muzamil, 40 and Samuel Kigenyi, 33, both witch doctors from Butaleja District for allegedly causing the death of Nelson Ogwang, 45 and Jacob Okello, who were suspected to be thieves in Bala Town Council.
The witch doctors were hired and paid Ugx5.5M by Jimmy Omuge, a resident of Tecambia ‘B’ cell Western Ward ‘B’ after unknown people broke into his car and stole a distributor cable. The witch doctors performed their craft and informed people that the suspects will run mad and start eating grass within a short period of time.

Bugungu Heritage and Information Centre, an organization that documents Bagungu culture and history on Tuesday held folktales competition at Buliisa Primary School to ensure preservation of the folktales as one of the elements of the cultural heritage that is fast disappearing. According to Kiiza Wilson, the Executive Director of Bugungu Heritage and Information Centre, parents hardly find time to tell stories to their children. This competition was meant to ensure that there was inter-generational conversation between the young and the old and have these folktales documented for posterity.
