📌Ebola Virus was discovered in 1979 near River Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since then, outbreaks have sporadically occurred  in Africa. The natural reservoir host of Ebola viruses remains unknown. However, based on the nature of similar viruses, experts think the virus is animal-borne with bats being the most likely reservoir.

📌The Senior Presidential Advisor in Charge of Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has urged candidates to protect themselves from the deadly Ebola as they write their final Primary Leaving Exams today. Gen Muhoozi’s message was read by Charlotte Busingye, the chairperson of Jenga Uganda, an association working in the education sector.

📌CIC of the armed forces, Yoweri Museveni made several changes in the Uganda People’s Defense Air Forces (UPDAF) in which he appointed Gen. Charles Okidi as the overall commander. According to the changes announced on Monday evening, Okidi who was at the rank of Major General was promoted to the next rank of Lieutenant General before being appointed the UPDAF commander.

📌A joint Police and UPDF operation in Jinja North Division has Mr. James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, stated that a joint Police and UPDF operation in areas Bugembe, Nakanyonyi, Katende, Wanyama, Budhumbuli East and West, and Walukuba led to arrest of at least 198 people over a number of offenses. He added that after screening the suspects, 61 were cautioned while 137 will be arraigned before Court.

📌Police in Kiira Region yesterday carried out an operation against motorists and cyclists who don’t follow traffic guidelines. These include those without valid driving/riding permits, helmets, reflector jackets, and those carrying excess passengers among others.

📌Traffic Police in Rukungiri district yesterday instituted a crackdown on boda bodas following the arrival of a deadline imposed last week, where over 25 motorcycles were impounded. OC Traffic Rukungiri IP James Tibijuka warned that that they will continue to impound motorcycles that do not meet the required set standards.

📌Kidongole Sub-county leaders commended the government for donating one big tractor and five hand use ploughing tractors to farmers in Kidongole and Koena Sub-counties yesterday. The leaders also praised Rt. Hon. Anita Among for lobbying the tractors. Ministry of Agriculture official Ikol Sipora handed over the tractors to Kidongole Police station.

📌Amlan Tumusiime, the Kikuube RDC ordered police to investigate two top Kyangwali Dairy Cooperative officials for allegedly misusing Ugx600 million on 7th November 2022.  Tumusiime cited that the Diary Board Chairperson, Edward Tumwesigye and the cooperative General Manager, Julius Kwesiga allegedly  misappropriated around Ugx600 million of the cooperative’s funds.

📌The Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Robert Atuhaire revealed that government has ordered wetland encroachers to vacate them immediately. This came as a result of the presidential directive, directing the conservation of all the wetlands in the country.

📌According to Yumbe officials, government has given out money to old persons in Gimara Sub County. The Yumbe chairperson for older persons commended government for full filling its obligation, noting that the elderly can access essential commodities like soap, food, and sugar.

📌Government embarked on the campaign of vaccinating animals against Anthrax in Nyondo Sub County yesterday. The ongoing campaign is being spearheaded by the District Veterinary Officer. Anthrax is a disease transmitted from animals to humans and human beings can avoid anthrax by not eating animals that die suddenly since they normally have blood oozing from all body openings.
