The Uganda People’s Defense Force has constructed a temporary Rapid Emergency Response Hospital in Bombo to help in case national hospitals are overwhelmed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The facility is ready to start receiving patients by today just in case the ministry of health requires additional areas to handle the virus. Just yesterday the Minister of Health, Ruth Aceng warned that we run a risk of overwhelming our health infrastructure if we don’t follow the set measures to co tell the spread just as happened in many European countries.
The facility is fully equipped just like any ordinary hospital with sections such as laundry, baths with clean water and generators for full time electricity supply to handle patients at different levels of sickness and exposure to the virus. It will also have capacity of about five(5) ICU beds for extremely sick and surgery stations for emergency.
The hospital will also have five(5) ambulances capable of carrying two patients at a time from other locations and hospitals. All workers and patients will have residence at the facility for the duration required.
