Uganda Cranes and Kitara FC forward Denis Omedi has been nominated for the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award following his remarkable goal against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 quarterfinals on August 6, 2024, at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Omedi’s exquisite “rabona” finish not only leveled the match but also left both defenders and the goalkeeper stranded, demonstrating his exceptional talent.

Omedi’s goal has been described as a spectacular one in Uganda’s football history.

Omedi’s strike came in a minute after KCCA’s Joel Sserunjogi’s goal that was the opening one for the game.

Omedi joins other 10 global stars like Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United), Mohammed Kudus (West Ham), and Federico Dimarco (Inter Milan) in the race for the best goal of 2024.

If all goes well and successfully for Omedi, he will now stand a chance to join the ranks of football legends that previously won this accolade, for instance, Neymar Jr., Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
