The inaugural flight was flagged off by Finance Minister Matia Kasaija and Uganda Airlines CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki.

Speaking at the launch of Uganda Airlines’ maiden flight to Lusaka and Harare, Kasaija expressed optimism about the potential benefits of improved air connectivity.

“This development will support a vibrant travel market that facilitates better business, trade, and tourism linkages,” he stated.

The Finance Minister acknowledged the revival of the national carrier as an essential infrastructure for the country.

Kasaija highlighted the significant role Zambia and Zimbabwe play in Uganda’s history, particularly in the fight for African emancipation and their longstanding visa-free access for Ugandans.

At the flagging-off ceremony, Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines, expressed her excitement for the new routes to Zambia and Zimbabwe.
