The Territorial Police in Greater Masaka and Rakai District, have arrested two males for the alleged murder of their 75-year-old girlfriend.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, confirmed the development in a press release from October 12, 2023.

According to Enanga, two male gigolos, identified as Kerekensiyo Kakooza and Silver Suuna, murdered Maria Nakaweesi, a 75-year-old peasant of Nabugando village, Kitaasa parish, in Rakai district, alleged to be their girlfriend.

“At around 10 p.m. on October 4, 2023, the victim was allegedly assaulted by Kakooza, her concubine, and the following day, the sandals of her second concubine, Suuna, were seen at her home,” Enanga said.

SCP Enanga noted that she, however, chose to conceal the events of the night and did not get immediate medical attention, which led to her demise.

“Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she died from her home as her son, Kimbugwe Yudah, was preparing to take her to the hospital on October 10, 2023,” he added.

Enanga condemned such acts of murder, stating that justice for Nakaweesi would prevail.
