The Uganda Police Force has partnered with Stanbic Bank to promote financial literacy among law enforcers in Lyantonde district.

On Wednesday, August 21st, 2024, Uganda Police and Stanbic Bank organized a training workshop for the officers at Lyatonde Town Council.

Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka regional police spokesperson, said the training was intended to equip and guide officers to embrace financial discipline.

Kasirye cautioned the officers against multiple borrowing beyond their wage, adding that it’s one of the significant contributors to the high corruption and embezzlement in the police force.

During the workshop, the law enforcers were guided to spend money within their wages and avoid spending outside their salaries to avoid being overstretched, a move that can cause temptation to engage in unethical behaviors, including corruption and embezzlement.

The team from Stanbic Bank urged police personnel to adopt a savings culture and to consider starting small-scale businesses as a means of supplementing their income.
