Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) woes are far from over, as Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda’s source of income has come under scrutiny by many party members.
Ssemujju managed to host over 300 key party leaders and accommodate them for 2 nights, facilitate all of them with fuel from Upcountry to Kampala, and also provide them with meals and refreshments at a one day National Consultative Meeting held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Nsambya sharing hall in Kampala.
According to Nandala Mafabi, the current party secretary general, Ssemujju is very selfish and one of the most compromised political leaders in the opposition, whose funds we all know come from Robert Kyagulanyi’s National Unity Platform (NUP) in Magere.
“Ssemujju spent over 700 million Uganda shillings just on the one day consultation meeting, with funds spent not released by the FDC treasury. We all know that this money was given to Ssemujju by NUP, which has interests in the Party and its members,”
“The Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago and Ssemujju refused to campaign for the then FDC party candidates; however, they went ahead to campaign for some NUP candidates because they feared to antagonise NUP. This was a clear and true manifestation of their allegiance to NUP, a party that they have always supported.
We are therefore not surprised, as we have always known that Lukwago and Ssemujju have been NUP-leaning, and thus the ploy to front both as top party leaders such that they can successfully deliver the party to NUP,” Nandala said.
Nandala further added that the vocal and articulate Ssemujju hides under the cover of brilliance and is often believable by many, yet behind closed doors he is a very dubious and dangerous person.
“These are the people hiding under tribal lines, I have now discovered why people in Parliament never voted for him as Speaker, and I died with him alone because people have now discovered that Ssemujju is a very selfish person,” Nandala said.
Nandala and Ssemujju have been in a row of counter-accusations of party sell-out, selfishness, nepotism, and lack of accountability.
