“Shaping Uganda’s destiny; our sole collective effort” -The theme that will usher in President-Elect YK Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the President-elect will be officially sworn in into office On  May 12, 2021 at Kololo  Independence Grounds.

The President will be swearing in for the 6th term of office under the  theme for the celebration; “Shaping Uganda’s destiny; our sole collective effort.”

This was confirmed by the Minister of the Presidency Hon. Esther Mbayo.

President Museveni won a 6th term of office after winning the January 14th, 2021 presidential election with a whooping 58 percent margin and was declared winner by the independent Electoral Commission.

The President now awaits to officially be inaugurated on the 12th of May for a sixth term at a ceremony that will be attended by over 15 heads of state plus other dignitaries.

The ceremony will be held ‘scientifically’ due to the prevalence of Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Ministry of the Presidency, the list of dignitaries to whom invitations have been sent to attend the function includes 15 heads of state.

Uhuru Kenyatta(Kenya), Samia Suluhu Hassan(Tanzania) Cyril Ramaphosa(South Africa), Salva Kiir(South Sudan), Paul Kagame(Rwanda), Felix Tshisekedi(DRC), Teodoro Obiang Nguema(Equatorial Guinea), Emmerson Mnangagwa(Zimbabwe) and Edgar Lungu (Zambia) are some of the heads of state expected to attend the inauguration.

Attendance of the event has been highly restricted due to the prevalence of the Covid-19 pandemic. Each district will be represented by 17 people at the ceremony who will include the NRM district chairperson, the LC5 Chairperson elect and the Chief Administrative Officer.

All former presidential candidates have also been invited to attend the ceremony.
