SHACU Arraigns Man in Court over Forcible Detainer

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), in conjunction with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), have arraigned Robert Musoga before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Hoima on charges of forcible detention.

According to the statement released by SHACU on October 31, 2024, the accused between 2016 and 2024 in Kikuube district forcefully took possession of land approximately 40 acres, ignoring several judgments, including warrants of execution, which were issued by the court and cleared for implementation.

“Despite this, the accused continued to illegally take possession of the land, to the detriment of the rightful owner,” the statement read in part.

The statement further revealed that the accused was remanded to Luzira until November 7, 2024.

On the same development, on October 28, 2024, SHACU arraigned Elias Kasirye, a businessman, land dealer, and money lender based in Lukaya, before the Masaka Chief Magistrates Court on charges of malicious damage, forced entry, unlawful eviction, and theft. He was remanded to Luzira until November 5, 2024.

Referring to the law, if convicted under Section 11(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, the accused individuals could face a prison sentence of up to seven years and a fine not exceeding UGX 5.3 million.

The efforts of SHACU, CID, and ODPP reflect the government’s determination to combat corruption at all levels. By holding accountable those who misuse their positions for personal gain, these actions aim to restore transparency, accountability, and good governance.
