Security has busted plans by the National Unity Platform-NUP to disrupt the forthcoming LCV chairperson by-election in Kayunga district.
The seat was declared vacant by the electoral commission following the death of the former LCV boss, Muhammad Ffefeka Sserubugo who was found hanging on a jackfruit tree hardly few months after being elected into office.
The Electoral commission has scheduled December, 14th, 2021 as the date to conduct the by election.
But the security has since unearthed violent strategies being used by NUP to disrupt this by-election process.
A source revealed the plans to use violence on the polling day by NUP is strategically targeting to instill fear among NRM supporters of Andrew Muwonge who is apparently in the lead against NUP candidate, Harriet Nakwedde.
Security has also identified a one Julius Katongole, one of Bobi wine’s personal Assistants and also the Lubaga Division youth chairperson as the one behind the violent strategy in the area.
Katongole recently accused the Kayunga Woman MP Hon Nantaba Aidah of compromising NUP’s party Election Management Committee chaired by Mercy Walukamba.
According to intelligence, NUP is currently authoring and circulating malicious propaganda against the NRM candidate posed to win this by-election.
The public have been urged to abstain from all forms of illegal activities aimed at causing chaos and conflicts during the polling process.
