Dr. Byanyima’s appointment has been met with positive feedback from colleagues and stakeholders at Mulago Hospital, who described her as a dedicated professional with a strong commitment to accountability and attention to detail.

Dr. Fred Nakwagala, the Clinical Head of the Directorate of Medicine at Mulago Hospital, expressed excitement about Byanyima’s appointment, highlighting her qualifications, experience, and dedication to her work.

He emphasized that her appointment ensures continuity of the hospital’s progress and praised her team-building skills and collaborative approaches, bringing a wealth of experience in management to the role.

“Dr. Byanyima’s proactive approach to addressing corruption practices within the hospital has garnered a lot of positive attention,” Nakwagala stated.

He also said that Byanyima’s deployment has helped to monitor and report on corrupt activities, demonstrating her commitment to upholding integrity and transparency in the hospital’s operations.

Dr. Rosemary Byanyima served as the clinical head of diagnostics and the head of the radiology department at Mulago Hospital for several years. She also holds an executive master’s degree in business administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), which enhances her management capabilities.

Dr. Byanyima is replacing Dr. Byarugaba Baterana, who has since been interdicted and is facing charges related to embezzlement, following an investigation by the State House Health Monitoring Unit.

Dr. Rosemary Byanyima’s appointment as the Executive Director of Mulago National Referral Hospital signifies a significant step towards enhancing healthcare management and service delivery at one of Uganda’s most prominent medical institutions.
