The Uganda Police Force has guaranteed the safety of football fans attending the highly anticipated match between the Uganda Cranes and Congo Brazzaville at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
In a press briefing held today September 9, 2024, at police headquarters in Naguru, ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the police spokesperson, emphasized the critical role of cooperation between fans and event organizers to ensure a smooth and secure experience for everyone involved.
“All roads lead to Mandela National Stadium! Let’s go catch the evening game as we support the Uganda Cranes since security is guaranteed,” Kituuma stated.
Rusoke highlighted that a strong fan presence can significantly enhance the players’ performance on the pitch.
Kituuma also reminded fans to remain vigilant, advising them to watch out for any abandoned bags or suspicious objects. He encouraged attendees to report any concerns to nearby security personnel, reinforcing that safety begins with individual awareness.
The match, set to kick off at 7 PM, marks the second fixture for both teams in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Uganda is eager to secure their first win after a recent 2-2 draw against South Africa, while Congo Brazzaville currently leads the group with three points following their victory over South Sudan.
