Joel Senyonyi, spokesman of the People Group has come out to allege that he has in his possession a video recording of the shooting of one of the group’s supporters the late Dan Kyeyune who was shot by a stray bullet in Nansana.
If indeed he has a bonafide, non edited video evidence showing how the late Daniel Kyeyune was shot, then he should show it to the public and present it to the courts of law or else he should stop careless allegations to the effect, something that must be traumatizing and insensitive to the family of the deceased and is clearly aimed at inciting violence that he has no ability to contain. The same applies to the continued false allegations that the late Ziggy Wine was killed by security agents and died due to torture wounds even when eye witnesses revealed that he had died from a road accident.
The group has also attempted to distance all responsibility for the loss of lives on their failure to control the crowds they attract claiming that the duty to protect belongs solely to the government.
Supporter Deaths
The people power establishment also embarrassingly continues to milk political capital from the unfortunate deaths of its members by going on to present relatives of the deceased before the media and public and making them publicly beg for support from the government and well-wishers something that they should have capacity to do since they get a lot of money from foreign donors for such cases.
This has also exposed their failure to deliver on promises they made to look after the families of the deceased such as that on Bobi Wines former Yassin Kawuma, which they had promised to support financially but did not deliver on that promise only for Bebe Cool to take over and intervene.
Corona Virus
The group has also been careless in their handling of the Corona virus pandemic by encouraging such a large gathering in a tightly enclosed space, flaunting international recommendations yet the press briefing could have been broadcast remotely with minimum attendance. The same group was attempting to brief the nation on the pandemic but it is clear that they don’t have the basic facts on the table.
Ideology and Structure
The people power group also claims to now have positions to now have positions in its structures yet to the contrary their leader says that they are not a political organization. They group continues to stand on the fence of structural organization as it hopes to continue destabilizing other political parties like the democratic party which it has thrown into total disarray.
The call for youth to register for youth positions is also contradictory to their ethos of uniting and fronting a common candidate in unison with other opposition groups.
