The former Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Parliament and current Parliamentary Commissioner, Matthias Mpuuga, who has also been serving as the deputy president for the National Unity Platform Buganda region before he was fired by Party President Robert Kyagulunyi, has said that the party is under siege and Kyagulunyi has been captured by the LGBTQ community, who are the party’s biggest funders.

Mpuuga made these statements while responding to his sacking as the Deputy President of NUP Buganda region on allegations of corruption and abuse of office, saying that the party is in the hands of the main funders and currently they are the ones calling the shots and not Kyagulunyi.

He stated that he appreciates and sympathizes with Kyagulanyi due to the current desperate situation the LGBTQ guys have placed him in since they are asking for a lot in exchange for the money they’re giving to NUP, which gives Kyagulanyi no choice but to heed their demands.

“I appreciate and understand that you are under siege. I don’t know how to help you and support you,” Mpuuga noted in a social media post.

It is alleged that Mpuuga’s problems stem from back in 2023, when he rallied opposition Members of Parliament to work with the ruling government and pass the anti-homosexuality law, contradicting the NUP president, who had assured his funders that his party would ensure that the law was not passed.

While in London, Kyagulanyi told the BBC that Mpuuga and the NUP parliamentarians who supported the law were working for Museveni, and he was set to take disciplinary action against them.

Upon his return, he immediately fired Mpuuga from the LOP and replaced him with his toy boy, Joel Ssenyonyi. However, the LGBTQ community was not content with only removing Mpuuga from the LOP post and leaving him in the top leadership of NUP. They demanded that he get completely dismissed from the party to set an example that no one crosses the LGBTQ community and gets away with it.

An insider confirms that it is against this background that Mpuuga is being witch-hunted, and Kyagulanyi will not hesitate to do so since he needs the LGBTQ money.
