Nakasongola: Man Killed with Machete, Boda Boda Stolen

Police in Nakasongola district have started a search for unidentified assailants following the brutal murder of a local man, Godfrey Jjuko, and the theft of his motorcycle. The incident occurred on July 31, 2024, along Sangira Kibira road in Nakasongola town council. Jjuko’s son, Gerald Kayongo, discovered his father’s body lying face down in the road.

According to Twinemazima, the spokesperson for the Savannah regional police reports that Jjuko was killed with a machete, and the authorities have filed a report of murder and violent robbery concerning the stolen motorcycle. The body has been sent to Nakasongola Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination as the police continue their investigation into the crime.’

“We responded very fast to calls when the body of the late was discovered by his son”, said Twinemazima.

To enhance the safety of residents in Nakasongola, police are implementing several measures in response to recent violent incidents and general community safety concerns. Some of these actions include increased patrols, investigations of recent crimes, community engagement, and traffic safety measures.
