The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine, has commissioned a refurbished maternity ward with digital X-rays, emergency equipment, and supplies aimed at easing service delivery at Butenga Health Center IV in Bukomansimbi District.
Dr. Atwine commissioned the HCIV on September 12, 2023, which was constructed by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH). Bukomansimbi, Butenga HCIV has benefited from the construction and equipping of the outpatient and emergency unit block, a surgical ward, and an operating theatre.
The laboratory and maternity ward have been refurbished and a digital X-ray installed, and the ministry has procured emergency care equipment and supplies, an ambulance, and a digital emergency care health information system.
Atwine said that all this capacity is enabling Butenga HCIV to handle referrals from Bukomansimbi, Masaka, Lwengo, Ssembabule, Kalungu, and from as far as Gomba.
In a statement released by the Ministry, she said that this has been achieved with partnership and support from the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) project.
“Today we have officially received the maternity ward and other facilities under this project. We appreciate KOFIH and all other stakeholders for the job well done,” Atwine said.
KOFIH also supported the construction and equipping of the Surgical Ward, OPD, and Emergency Unit Block.
