The police at Kiira Road are hunting for a man identified as Hakim who is suspected of having murdered Kapalaga Simon, a 23-year-old resident of Tuba Zone in Nakawa Division, on Saturday, August 9, 3023.

According to Luke Owoyesigire Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, at about 7 p.m. on August 7, 2023, the deceased hired out UFR 466L to his friend Hakim, who is the current suspect, on a self-drive basis.

“It’s alleged that on August 7 or August 8, 2023, he came to the deceased without the motorcycle, claiming that he parked the same in a parking yard in Kisaasi and notified the deceased that his wife was not around with the keys for the place where he stayed,” Owoyesigire added.

Owoyesigire added that Hakim requested to spend the night at the deceased place and that during that time, a scuffle arose among the two.

“Probably Hakim had an intention to come back and kill the owner of the motorcycle with intentions to later take the motorcycle for himself,” Owoyesigire narrated.

According to Owoyesigire, people did not realise that this gentleman was dead because he left the room locked, and when the brother came back to check on him, he could not hear any voices inside the room. He went back and came later in the evening to check on him, only to find that the gentleman had died with a lot of cuts on his chest and neck.

Owoyesigire said that after getting this information, the brother informed the police, who came in as soon as possible and found the body lying in a pool of blood.

The police recovered the knife that is presumed to be the murder weapon as an exhibit.

Police are underway to have this suspect arrested. One suspect is already in custody and gave them the information that Hakim stayed with the deceased that night and that efforts are underway to have him arrested and brought to court.

The police condemn acts of murder just for gain, and they will inform the public when he is arrested.
