This incident happened on October 1, 2024, in Maya Primary School in Lubimbili Sub County in Mubende district, and the deceased has been identified as Joshua Karuhanga, a P.6 pupil.

Betty Kaitesi, a teacher at the school, said the affected pupils were mostly from primary five and primary six classes.

Kaitesi identified the injured children, Rosemary Tundina, Metu Kamukama, and Ronald.

’’The injured pupils are at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital; however, we believe that they will be fine soon by God’s grace, and the treatment they are getting from the hospital is good,’’ Kaitesi said.

Kaitesi added that the school does not have lightning arresters and called upon the government to help and provide some to the school.
