Lango and Tooro provinces have drawn 2:2 in the first leg of the FUFA Drum semi-final which was played on Sunday 20th November. The match was played at St. Paul’s Seminary grounds in Fort Portal.
Passionate fans from Lango province came in a convoy to the playing grounds singing and celebrating their ancestries which is the theme of the FUFA Drum tournament.
The teams were levelled at first half. In the second, around the 57th minute of the game Marvin Youngman scored the first goal of the game giving Tooro the lead.
An equalizer from the Lango team came from Allan Okello in the 73rd minute, Benjamin Nyakoojo extended Tooro’s lead 5 minutes after Okello’s goal.
In 90th minute Allan Okello scored another goal for the Lango province to draw the game 2:2. He was named player of the match.
The dates for the final have been tentatively set for 7th and 14th January 2023 on a home and away basis.
FUFA Drum Organizing Committee Chairman Rogers Byamukama cautioned fans against stadium violence, warning that FUFA will not hesitate to take action against those promoting the vice.
“We experienced some cases of violence after the game between Buganda and Acholi in Luweero but we want to caution fans against this vice. FUFA condemns such actions and we will take action against anyone who promotes violence,” cautions Byamukama
The return leg is hosted at Akii-Bua Stadium, Lira City.
