The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, has praised Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorist group leader Jamil Mukulu, calling him a hero who deserves to be celebrated instead of being imprisoned.
Speaking during the burial of his grandmother in Matanga, Masaka district, Kyagulanyi said that even though “Jamil Kyagulanyi,” who is popularly known as Jamil Mukulu, didn’t succeed in his fight, what he did was good and deserves to be applauded.
In 1998, under the leadership of Jamil Mukulu, the ADF, which is considered a terrorist organisation by the Ugandan government and the United States, attacked the Kichwamba Technical Institute in Kabarole, Uganda, and set three dormitories on fire, killing 80 students. The ADF abducted another 100 students and destroyed other property, including laboratories and school vehicles.
The group has also launched multiple attacks across the country using bombs and targeted assassinations of Muslim leaders who refused to support their ideology of forcibly turning Uganda into an Islamic state.
The group, which is currently operating from DRC, has killed thousands of innocent Congolese civilians and abducted many more in its continued raids on villages in the eastern part of the country.
However, according to Robert Kyagulanyi, these actions are good since they help to fight the Museveni government. “Many of you call him Jamil Mukulu; me, I call him Jamilu Kyagulanyi, and I believe what he did is a good thing,” Kyagulanyi told mourners.
This is the second time Kyagulanyi has publicly praised terrorist Jamilu Mukulu, calling him his hero for attacking and killing Ugandan civilians who have failed to remove President Museveni’s government.
In October 2022, while attending Duwa prayers for Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s father in Kalungu district, Kyagulanyi called Mukulu a freedom fighter who was fighting for the betterment of Uganda despite murdering innocent children both in Uganda and DRC.
“There is also a brother of mine, who many fear to talk about, Jamil Alibakyi Kyagulanyi. Many know him as Mukulu. He is also a political prisoner,” Kyagulanyi said, igniting trauma in the victims of atrocities committed by Mukulu and his ADF group.
