Kenya and Uganda are organizing the first international tourism exhibition. The event being organized by the Kenya coastal Tourism Association and Uganda Tourism Board is slated for 17th November 2022.
The inaugural conference and exhibition will be held in Mombasa, Kenya under the theme; Strengthening Networks, Synergies and Diversity to maximize the Tourism potential between Uganda and the Kenya Coastal region.
While launching the conference on Thursday, the Minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem said that the move aims at promoting tourism within the East Africa.
“As a region, we need to promote East Africa as a tourism destination to the World but most importantly amongst ourselves to harness the potential of the sector and grow our economies.”
The conference will attract key players in the tourism sector in both countries and government ministries.
It should be noted that Kenya is Uganda’s number one source of market for tourists and Mombasa is a key destination for Ugandans.
The coastal region of Kenya has become a key location for Ugandan weddings, atleast 200 Ugandan weddings were held in Mombasa in 2021.
Consul General of Uganda to Mombasa, Amb Paul Mukumbya said, “We must promote the potential of our two destinations to attract more visitors and investment in the tourism sector because it has linkages with other sectors of the economy.”
