The opposition parties, their leaders, and supporters in Uganda have continuously proved to be perennial jokers. They spend most of the time ranting on social media instead of addressing the challenges Ugandans face.
The same group has turned into a laughingstock since all their actions show a lack of seriousness and will to challenge the status quo but instead focus on cheap popularity and attention-seeking for selfish interests.
The opposition leaders, like NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi, have totally done nothing apart from posing for pictures with vulnerable people and recording themselves attending feel-good parties, something that does not in any way change the lives of those in need.
Over time, he spends all his time on social media complaining about the same things every day and telling Ugandans the problems they have as if they don’t know. Many Ugandans wonder how an aspiring leader has nothing to tell them or a manifesto to follow but only deception and using them to make money.
The continuous exhibition of lack of vision by these leaders leaves Ugandans no choice but to continue voting for the National Resistance Movement and President Museveni.
The lavish lifestyles lived by these opposition leaders give them no moral authority to talk about the suffering of Ugandans; what do these political comedians know about suffering anyway? Surprisingly, the same opposition leaders have been more corrupt and dangerous to society in all the offices they have held. Would a person like Mathias Mpuuga fight corruption after stealing UGX 500 million in taxpayers’ money in broad daylight? These social media comedians have played on the minds of Ugandans for long.
It is high time the few opposition supporters opened their eyes and understood they are not gullible to be always used as pawns in the games of these opposition politicians. Some of those who believed Kizza Besigye’s empty promises have since died, but Besigye is still playing the same games after 25 years of deception, and some gullible Ugandans still believe him.
Is the problem with these politicians or us, who believe them as if we do not see their shameless games?
The truth of the matter is that there is no opposition in Uganda; it is just a small group of selfish populists playing to the gallery, but unfortunately some unsuspecting supporters fall prey.
Glaring signs clearly show these opposition leaders have no vision for the country but will keep playing on the minds of the few gullible supporters to help them get to some positions for self-enrichment; they use social media for likes and comments to publicize their political games. Time to watch out.
