Former Presidential aspirant and former Security Minister Henry Tumukunde has been evicted from his Sheraton Hotel office over nonpayment of rent arrears amounting to 300M accrued since 2016 to date.

News reaching our desk indicates that the Management of Sheraton Hotel together with Paul Nuwagaba, the L.C.I Chairman of Nile Zone village, Nakasero in Kampala Central Division on Wednesday 6th April 2021 oversaw the eviction exercise for the former “Renewed Uganda” Platform presidential candidate.

The Nile Zone L.C.I Defense Secretary, a one Nasul Elim, the area Councilor Kizza Sylvia witnessed the eviction exercise.

All his items including three Computers, 6 office chairs, filling cabinets and 2 tables among others found inside the office were recorded and kept by the Hotel Management.

Tumukunde has been occupying the premises without pay for over four years prompting the eviction.

This is not the first time Gen. Tumukunde is involved in a row over money and property. Tumukunde has in many incidents been cited in land grabbing.

1n 2005, he was accused of land grabbing and mistreating people in Kayunga, Wakiso. Residents accused him of fraudulently acquiring three square miles of land in Kayunga sparking off a bitter row.

Lt. Gen. Henry was also shamelessly cited in conning of businessman Hajj Mohammed Majid Bagalaaliwo of over 1.5Billion Shillings.

Bagalaaliwo is seasoned business administrator who holds shares in Coca-Cola. The 80-year old has been operated on various occasions battling Cancer for a while. This has been worsened by a horrible nightmare of losing close to 1.5 Billion Shillings to the Gen Tumukunde in a fraudulent land sale.

Bagalaaliwo says Gen Tumukunde reached him through a real estate goon, a one Morris Nuwagaba in September 2007 with intentions of trading 25 acres of land located at Kachanga landing site, Railway Quarter Zone, Port Bell Village Luzira, Nakawa Division Kampala.

He told the Hajji that he would soon get a certificate of title from Kampala District Land Board. He said he had secured the land as his possession and that veterans at the said land were put there to guard his interests as a General. Hajji Bagalaaliwo could not be suspicious of a highly respected general in the UPDF.

Consequently, Hajj Bagalaaliwo accompanied by his wife and Nuwagaba toured the said land and scrutinized it.

After the meaningless visit, Hajj negotiated with the three-star General and agreed to purchase the 25 acres of land at 1,8000,000,000(One Billion Eight Hundred Million Shillings only).

It all ended in tears as Hajj Bagalaaliwo was defrauded by the three-star General.

Because of such mischief and more, Gen Tumukunde fell out with Government after he was removed as Minister of Security in an unexpected cabinet reshuffle in March 2018.

Prior to that he had served as the UPDF 4th Division commander, Chief of Military Intelligence and later Director General of Internal Security Organization.

He contested in the recently concluded presidential elections under ‘Renewed Uganda’ pressure group but lost miserably with less than 2% of the total vote count.

Ugandans refused to be defrauded in broad day light.
