Politicians Covid-19 Intervention Misguided

The Forum for Democratic Change and other Opposition leaders have announced plans to provide support for Covid-19 Intervention under it’s People’s government pressure group.

It is not surprising that the FDC has managed to turn the tragedy into a political opportunity. This is typical of how they operate. The plight of the country is an opportunity for them to front their ill Intentioned agenda for the country.

It possible for people in that party to contribute to the humanitarian efforts without turning political and partisan. Branding food and relief items makes absolutely no sense. The sole purpose of this is to irritate people and masses into violent civil action such as riots as they discredit the government.

The fight against Covid-19 has largely been successful so far, with gains seen daily. This has been done with minimal measure like closing public transportation in the country.

The ministry of health has also advised that any one who wants to contribute to the fight needs to do so in Consultations with them. We need a concerted effort if we are to win this fight. We have to let the professionals mandated by the Constitution and people of Uganda to do their job. The political comedians and Opportunists can wait when their time comes and that’s not now.

The FDC needs to accept that politicking has to take a backstage in at the moment. The government also needs to make sure that such agents of despair are delt with decisively. We cannot tolerate multiple sources of authority in this war or we risk losing it.
