Ibrahim Ssemujja Nganda has been fired as the party chief whip in parliament by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

This was during the NEC delegates conference held today, October 6, 2023, at Lugogo, Kampala, which was chaired by Dr. Frank Nabwiso, the party chairman.

According to Dr. Nabwiso, a total of 956 members voted in favour of removing Ssemujja as the party chief whip and endorsed Yusuf Nsibambi as the party’s new chief whip.

“A total of 956 members voted in favour of removing Ssemujja, while eight members voted against the decision and nine abstained from the election,” said Dr. Nabwiso.

Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the party’s secretary general, said that he will draft a letter to the office of the speaker of parliament about the party’s decision.

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, the court ruled in favour of the Najjanankumbi faction to continue with the delegate’s conference.
