🇺🇬 Kambuga Hospital to be elevated to regional referral hospital
📌Kambuga Hospital located in Kanungu District will be elevated to a regional referral hospital after renovations. Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng during the ground breaking ceremony on March 29 said the project will cost Ugx40Bn and will be completed by the joint effort of UPDF Engineering Brigade and Kanungu District Local Government. Also present was ICT Minister Hon Chris Baryomusi.

🇺🇬 UPC commends NRM Government for prioritizing Security
📌The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has commended the NRM Government for making security a priority and  strengthening the capacity of security forces to fight crime in the country. Arach Oyat Sharon, UPC party spokesperson on Thursday said the continuous community policing and restoration of public trust has enhanced a close working relationship between Security forces and  members of the public.
“We trust this Government’s capacity to offer security to all,” she said.

🇺🇬 UPDF kills ADF’s expert in making bombs
📌 Uganda Peoples Defence Forces put out action a senior commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) Seka Wankaba whom they  killed in a military operation Wednesday in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. UPDF deputy spokesperson Col. Deo   Akiiki said that Wankaba was a Ugandan national and ‘a highly trained Improvised Explosive Device (IED) expert’. He was killed during a raid in Mwalika Valley, North Kivu province.

🇺🇬 Government renews labour agreement with Saudi Arabia
📌 The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi on behalf of Uganda Government signed the renewed  labour agreement  with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The signing paves way for the resumption of externalization of labour to the Middle East following suspension in December 2022.

🇺🇬 UPDF soldier perishes in road carnage
📌 Maj. Alex Aceta, a Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) officer attached to Olilim Training School has died following a collision between his  TX Prado and another vehicle registration number UAF 265F which had parked by the roadside. The accident occured in Namutumba District at Mazuba village along the Mbale-Iganga highway.

🇺🇬 Judiciary to train personnel reporting on judicial issues
📌 The Public Relations Officer of the Judiciary Jamson Karemani has said that all media personnel reporting on judiciary issues will be trained prior to accreditation.
“The Judiciary will be accrediting all Court reporters as a way of strengthening media relations and streamlining the reporting function.” said Karemani.

🇺🇬 MASAKA: Woman killed by school fence
📌A 25 year old woman was killed after a fence of Centenary High School in Nyendo fell on her. According to eyewitnesses, Betty Nabalonge a resident of Mukudde zone, Nyendo-Mukungwe division in Masaka was Wednesday coming from her sister’s residence to charge her phone when the incident happened. Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka police spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the owner of Centenary High School will be charged with recklessness and negligence.

🇺🇬 OMORO: Residents block MTN vehicle from accessing network mast
📌 Residents of Loyo Ajonga village in Omoro District blocked an MTN vehicle to access its network mast as they accused the driver of the vehicle of driving through Loyo-Ajonga Primary School compound, endangering the students. The school headmistress, Catherine Anena says that the residents have for so long requested MTN Uganda to open a 700-meter community access road to ease access to their telecommunications tower, but in vain.

🇺🇬 TORORO: Farmers sensitized on Soya bean varieties
📌 The District Agriculture Officer, Patrick Okware has sensitized farmers of Nabuyoga Town Council on how to plant Maksoy 3N soybeans. He also revealed that the other recommended Soya beans varieties for Uganda are Maksoy 1N and Maksoy 4M which yield between 2000 – 2500Kg/. The farmers applauded the district for the initiative and promised to work together in adopting modern ways of farming.

🇺🇬 JINJA: Suspected grenade explodes, destroys home
📌 A suspected grenade Wednesday exploded in one Samuel Ngobi’s home, a resident of Kibuga-Mbata cell in Jinja City Southern division. Rhoda Namwase, an eye witness said they heard a big explosion from Ngobi’s house before the roof blew off and walls crumbling. Kiira Region Police Spokesperson James Mubi says a team of investigators has taken samples from the scene which will be subjected to forensic examination at the Government analytical laboratory.

🌍 DRC: Over 25 UNAFEC members assassinated in Lubumbashi
📌 Over 25 members of the National Union of Congolese Federalists (UNAFEC) were assassinated on Wednesday in Lubumbashi in the southeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, by unidentified assailants wearing military fatigues. According to their party and a civil organization, some commandos killed more than 25 people, some with firearms and others by drowning, according to Bertin Tchoz, head of a civil organization for peace and security in the Haut-Katanga district.

🌍 DRC: Over 2,000 schools to close due to war- UN
📌 Over 2000 schools in DRC will close as a result of the going conflicts in the region. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), at least 2,100 schools in North Kivu and Ituri provinces have been forced to shut because of the deteriorating security situation between January 2022 and March 2023. The two provinces in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo most hit by the bloody conflict have roughly 750,000 children whose schooling has been disrupted.

📌 The  local people  in Somalia  known as Ma’wisley have joined the Somalia National Army  to push out the  Al-Shabaab in the Hiran region.Their commanders said the allied troops are fully prepared to start the second phase of the operation to remove Al-Shabaab from the remaining areas in HirShabelle state of Somalia.

🌍  SOUTH SUDAN: President Salva Kiir appoints new Defense Minister
📌 President Salva Kiir has appointed General Chol Thon Balok, the former governor of Upper Nile state province and a member of his own party as Defence minister, according to a decree read on state media. This comes after Kiir fired defence minister Angelina Teny, who is also First Vice President Machar’s wife, along with the interior minister this month, re-igniting long-standing.

🌍 ROME: Christian faithfuls send Pope Francis supportive messages following respiratory infection
📌 Pope Francis, 86, Wednesday said he had been touched by the many messages received from the faithful, expresing his gratitude for the closeness and prayer. Pope Francis had reportedly been admitted to the hospital with a respiratory infection. The Vatican Spokesperson Matteo Bruni said in a statement that the Pope’s schedule has been cleared for further tests.
