πΊπ¬ More than 400 ADF rebels killed since commencement of Operation Shujaa
The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) has killed more than 400 ADF rebels, recovered several ammunition and liberated several areas from the control of the ADF militia since the commencement of Operation Shujaa. Maj Bilal Katamba,UPDF Mountain Brigade Commander says the hunt for the rebels has intensified, urging those that are still in hiding to come out and surrender before they are captured.
βThey should surrender to our detachments. They would be handled well. We donβt have the intention of harming those who will surrender. We shall welcome them. If they donβt surrender, we shall continue with the operation until Congo is peaceful,” said Maj Katamba.
The UPDF, in 2021 launched the offensive Operation Shujaa to wipe out the ADF rebels in Eastern Democratic of Congo. There have been unsuccessful attempts by the rebels to cross to Uganda as many have been wiped out by the UPDF.
πΊπ¬ UPDF kills 20 ADF rebels, ammunition recovered
The Uganda Peopleβs Defence Forces have killed 20 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in the South West of River Lusulubi and near River Semliki in Eastern DR Congo. In a joint operation with FARDC, the UPDF also recovered four AK 47 guns, 313 bullets and other military equipment. Maj Bilal Katamba, the UPDF Mountain Division Commander said they attacked the ADF base at 10:30AM.
βIn the battle, the joint force was able to put 20 terrorists out of action. We also recovered mobile phones that we believe will be useful for us to get more information about the terror group,” Maj Katamba said.

πMore than 20 households neighbouring Lira Regional Referral Hospital are at the verge of eviction following the demarcation of the hospital land. According to the Hospital Administrator, Peter Okello, the encroachers around the hospital will be evicted in line with the court order.

πThe Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has pledged to eliminate poverty in Northern Uganda by promoting the growth of Macadamia, a cash crop, on a large scale. He highlighted this while launching his Foundation dubbed βJustice Owiny-Dollo Foundation ” at his official residence in Nakasero. He intends to use the campaign to plant Macadamia nut trees.

πThe National Curriculum Development Centre has revealed that it is on course to finalise theΒ review of the advanced level curriculum so that it is implemented in 2025. The Manager Secondary Department, John Okumu pointed out proposals in the new curriculum like vocationalisation of secondary education, keeping students with practical skills, introducing new subjects like occupation, contemporary studies and career studies.

πPolice in Katwe is investigating a fire outbreak in which two children died of suffocation in Kabowa in Rubaga division. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owesigire says a one Nansasi left her two roomed house and went for night prayers leaving her three children sleeping in the house. Owoyesigire says the children suffocated to death while one of the children identified as Sseruwagi sustained serious injuries and is currently admitted at Mulago hospital.

πTraffic Police has warned Ugandans not to accept eats from strangers using public transport means. During a weekly press briefing at the police Headquarters in Naguru on Monday, Faridah Nampiima the Uganda Police Traffic spokesperson faulted the strangers that in most cases have intentions of stealing valuables from their unsuspecting targets.

πThe authorities from Makerere University haveΒ limited exit and entrance points to and from the university to enhance campus security. There will be only three official entry and exit points that include the main, western, and eastern gates as the small five gates lacking lighting at night will be closed.

πThe Jinja City Patriotism Club has passed out 200 students of Wanyange Girls Senior Secondary School in Jinja. While presiding over the pass out function, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner, Mike Ssegawa Ssentongo urged leaders of all patriotism clubs in schools to build a nationalistic character of students who keep time and love their country. The passed out students went through many topics ranging from introduction to patriotism and leadership skills, vision 2014 and issues of the environment.

πA family of four people from Ayami sub-county in Lira district was struck by lightning during the Sunday heavy downpour. The deceased are Jimmy Obong, 32, Jenifer Aciro, 26, Brian Opok, 5, and Brian Okumu, 14. The incident happened at 6PM when lightning struck the grass-thatched hut they lived in.

πOne person died on spot in a Sunday afternoon accident that happened at Nyamiyaga TC in Rubanda District as a heavy goods truck failed to negotiate a sharp corner. The incident occurred at 3:45 PM near Nyamiyaga TC in Nyamiyaga Cell. The Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Ambrose Arinda,Β son to one Bijungu, a businessman of Murole A, Nyakabungo ward in Rubanda T/C. πThe Isingiro District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Edson Musherure has revealed that results of the suspected Marburg Virus patient from Tanzania admittedΒ Saturday at Rulongo Health Center III have come out negative. This was the first suspected case since Marburg outbreak was declared recently in Tanzania
“We epidemiologically investigated the blood samples tested for MVD and the suspected case didn’t meet the MVD case definition. I am glad to inform you that the results for the suspect of the Marburg Hemorrhagic fever from Tanzania who is at Rulongo HC III are negative from any haemorrhagic disease. Thanks for the support,” said Dr Musherure.

πRwanda has been listed as one of the 30 countries globally with the cheapest household electricity prices, according to a report released earlier this month by Statista.com, an online platform specialized in market and consumer data. The other African countries on the list include Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya. Rwanda’s average price of electricity was $0.24 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), with health facilities charged Rwf186 per kWh, Rwf134 per kWh for small businesses, Rwf103 per kWh for medium businesses, and Rwf94 per kWh for largeΒ businesses.
