The Prime Minister and Head of the government Anti Covid Taskforce, Rt Hon Ruhakana Rugunda has assured Ugandans that any defective food items distributed by the government would be investigated and replaced if found. He also encouraged beneficiaries of such items to come found so as to help the taskforce.

This came after social media posts alleged that the food items being dishes out are defective. It has however been mainly fake accounts that have spread the news with an aim to discredit the government scheme.

Many other commentators have also stated that the country has just come out of a bad beans harvest last year and alot of the produce was lost and also affected by the pests.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister, Together with some members of the National Task Force on#COVID19 Response, we today visited @OPMUganda stores in Namanve to inspect the relief supplies we are providing to people most affected by the lockdown measures . The food is of good quality & fit for consumption.
