The number of prominent figures that keep on defecting from the people power group is alarming and a sign of their inability to operate a cohesive political organization.
Over a month ago during the music show organized by NRM staunch mobilizer, Katherine Kusasira, Ronald Mayinja a prominent people activist shocked revellers when he not only performed at the function but also later held talks with Yoweri Museveni, NRM Chairman.
Many brushed this incident aside as mere coincidence. However as time would tell, more figures have continued to Defect with the later being more prominent than the former.
This defection was to be followed by another former close confidant of Bobi wine, Buchaman. The artist who was well known to be the defacto number 2 of the firebase camp publicly defected to the NRM and made a pseudo presidential advisor on ghetto issues.
The most prominent of the defectors to date is Eddie Kenzo, the multi award winning international artist. He once wrote a song criticizing the NRM government but the President reached out to him in his time of need and he is now firmly behind him.
The latest of them is a well known social media activist, Full figure. The firebrand artiste was an avid promoter of people power but the usual lack of coherence in the camp led her to quit the loose political group.
President Museveni has a long and successful track record of handing out peaceful olives to opponents. It is one of the things credited for his long and successful political career. His ability to unite and listen to dissenting voices is just remarkable.
Meanwhile his opponents such as people power continue to alienate more people with their methods of work. Their preference for violence instead of dialogue continues to betray them. The latest being the violent strike at Makerere University.
Bobi wine is a political novice. He was recently advised by his elderly friend Kasirye Gwanga that he needs 20 more years to be politically ready to contest for leadership of this country. He better listens before it becomes too late for him.
At this rate, People Power will be no more than a few political scavengers hovering around the political carcass of Bobi Wine.
