Brig Gen Henry Isoke, Head of the Anti-Corruption Unit State House Uganda (SH-ACU), has stressed that corruption undermines national institutions, generates grievances among the citizens, and erodes state legitimacy.

He made these remarks on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, during an interaction with officers at an advanced intelligence course at the School of Military Intelligence, Migyera.

“It also escalates crime and instability, which affects service delivery,” he stated.

During his speech, he highlighted that corruption is a threat to national security since it jeopardizes the military, the national pillars of the state, the economy, and the environment.

Additionally, the General stated that theft of fuel, rations, pension money, allowances, and salaries are examples of corruption in the army, and it compromises the Forces’ effectiveness.

The general emphasized the vital role intelligence services play in the battle against corruption by monitoring and investigating tips from sources, which aids in early identification.

He thanked the UPDF leadership, particularly the Chief of Defence for Intelligence and Security (CDIS), for enhancing intelligence officers’ professionalism through training.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Commandant Col. Muhumuza for the physical infrastructure construction and training quality improvements that have transformed the school.

SH-ACU’s operations are intelligence-led and work closely with other intelligence agencies that provide human and technical intelligence support to the unit.
