Col Emmy Katabazi, Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization (ISO) has emphasized the importance of quality and affordable education for all Ugandans.

Col Katabazi made these remarks on October 12, 2024, during his visit to Lion of Judah High School in Kayunga District, he expressed his unwavering interest in nurturing and motivating the students to be better leaders in the future.

“People often ask why I dedicate so much time to the youth. The answer is simple: the youth are vibrant and are today’s leaders. By preparing them well, we honor the legacy of those who shed their blood for the betterment of our nation, Uganda,” he stated.

The Lion of Judah High School, which encompasses kindergarten, elementary, and secondary levels, is planning to establish a university to further enhance educational opportunities.

Pastor Saul Yaawe Karya, Director of the school, highlighted the significance of nurturing morals and culture within the learners.

“We cannot preserve the morals and culture of our nation without touching the lives of the younger generation. The best way to achieve this is through education,” said Pastor Karya.

Col Katabazi praised the school’s administration for their dedication to Uganda’s education system. He highlighted the necessity of providing quality education at affordable prices, noting that Lion of Judah has exemplified how high-quality education can be achieved without exorbitant costs.

“True social transformation occurs when individuals become literate,” he explained, citing initiatives like Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) as essential tools for change.

“Education is not just about grades; it’s about the total transformation of an individual,” he added.

During his visit, Colonel Katabazi was encouraged by the visible transformation within the school, observing students displaying smartness, cleanliness, and discipline—hallmarks of the institution’s commitment to quality education. He expressed gratitude to the staff for their dedication and acknowledged the crucial role of security forces in safeguarding the nation.

The Colonel also stressed the importance of teamwork in the students’ personal growth and nation-building, stating; “You don’t run alone; you run with others because we all play a role in defending this nation. As youth, we need you to do your part: pray hard, love one another, and maintain discipline to succeed.”

He urged both students and teachers to be adaptable in their efforts to transform the country, pointing out that those who embrace technology will have a significant advantage.

“We must develop our industry to benefit our society,” he stated, reinforcing that education is essential for national transformation.

In closing, Colonel Katabazi expressed gratitude to the students for their discipline and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence, reminding them of their crucial role in Uganda’s future.
