During the meeting, President Kenyatta and Lt. General Kainerugaba discussed several bilateral and multilateral issues of interest to Kenya and Uganda. Among the issues discussed included the restoration of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kenya’s Uhuru now becomes the third African President to have held bilateral talks with CLF Gen Muhoozi within a period of four months.

In March, Muhoozi was in Cairo, the Egyptian capital where he held talks with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and some senior army commanders.

Early this year, CLG Kainerugaba held talks with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, a move that resulted into amending the relationship between the countries.

Rwanda subsequently reopened borders with Uganda after two years of closure.

A few weeks ago, Gen Kainerugaba staged a mega celebration in Kampala and Entebbe to commemorate his 48th birthday.
