One person in Bundibugyo district has lost his leg after being knocked by a speeding vehicle belonging to the convoy of Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, the leader of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine’s team, as he embarked on a tour of Western Uganda.

The vehicle has been identified as a Toyota Hiace registration number UBL516L white in color belonging to Jolly Mugisha and the driver is currently on the run.

According to an eyewitness, the victim, who has been identified as Mugisa Junior, was rushed to Bundibugyo Hospital with his leg completely shattered, but he was later followed by members of Kyagulanyi’s team, who whisked him from the hospital to an unknown location in fear of bad publicity.

Another source at Bundibugyo Hospital confirmed the incident and revealed that the victim was quickly and forcefully taken out of the hospital before he was even recorded in the hospital book.

“They hurriedly pulled him out of the hospital and whisked him away in an ambulance belonging to Acrobert Kiiza, the Member of Parliament for Bughendera constituency, to a certain traditional healer whose identity is yet to be ascertained,” the source revealed.

The incident adds to the trail of blood that Bobi Wine leaves behind wherever he goes, which has left superstitious people accusing him of carrying out human sacrifice to gain political mileage and more riches.

In May 2024, police halted Bobi Wine’s countrywide tour following a spate of accidents that claimed the lives of several people, including onlookers and different road users who were not even part of his rallies, citing an example of Maya along the Kampala-Masaka Highway, where NUP’s entourage knocked three people dead.

Police demanded that Bobi Wine and his NUP put in place measures to reduce accidents that were rampant during their rallies and processions and, in addition, commit to obeying the already existing traffic laws and guidelines for their rallies to be okayed again.

However, Bobi Wine and his team did not heed the police’s advice, thus causing more bloodshed on the first day of re-embarking on the countrywide tour.
