Robert Kyagulanyi, the National Unity platform party president commonly known as Bobi Wine, has publicly accused members of the Banyarwanda community, commonly referred to as Bavandimwe in Uganda, of orchestrating the recent attack in Bulindo.

During a press conference held in Magere at Bobi Wine’s residence, he condemned the violence and claimed that he is very aware of the people behind that canister attack, and it is none other than the foreigners from Rwanda who he claims have taken over the country.

He alleged that the Banyarwanda, a group of Rwandan origin residing in Uganda, who are members of the police force, were behind the attack and are out to finish him before the 2026 general elections.

“We must stand together as Buganda and reject any attempts by these foreigners who to incite violence and spread hatred against us the Baganda,” Bobi Wine said.

However, the accusations have ignited a heated debate on social media and among political analysts, especially Frank Gashumba, head of the Banyarwanda community in Uganda, and others warning Bobi Wine to leave them alone or they will take the fight to his bedroom.

“Bobi Wine should be more wise and leave the Banyarwanda out of his drama, or else he risks a serious backfire. We will take the fight to him right in his bedroom and extend it to his brother Nubian Lee’s bedroom, since they are married to our girls,” Gashumba warned.

Gashumba, who didn’t hold back on his warning, proudly tweeted that they even have spies among his NUP, adding that Bobi Wine should not play around with the Banyarwanda; he will not like the repercussions.

“We even have spies planted amongst you as Banyarwanda; they are “bavandimwe” and comrades in arms of the Banyarwanda cause. “We won’t start a war, but if you do, we will bring it right to your bed!” said Gashumba.

Bobi Wine, a vocal critic, urged the Buganda to resist and expel the Banyarwanda during his country mobilization tour in Luwero earlier this year. He seems determined to continue his criticism, even accusing them of involvement in the Bulindo incident and his whisking him from the airport upon his return from South Africa.

Political analysts have weighed in and advised Bobi Wine to go slow, as he has a lot to lose because the Banyarwanda are his in-laws and Ugandans at large due to his tribal sentiments.
