The leader of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change party (Katonga faction), Col. Rtd. Dr. Kizza Besigye, will not be participating in the planned match to parliament protest slated for July 23rd, 2024.

This was confirmed by a source close to him, who revealed that the former four-time presidential candidate is set to fly to New York in the United States on July 22, 2024, aboard Turkish Airlines from Entebbe International Airport.

Besigye’s decision to travel to the US a day before the protest, which he had massively mobilized, has raised several unanswered questions among the organizers who had extensively relied on him.

They wondered why Dr. Besigye has opted to abandon participation in what is deemed critical in the administration of good governance.

Besigye, who is currently conducting a countrywide tour, is set to leave the country, and he won’t be present to lead the demonstration.

“We are shocked and disappointed in Besigye after learning of his decision not to participate in the protest, yet he was at the forefront of mobilizing supporters. He will be on a late flight out of the country to avoid being seen and photographed by the public,” said Wasswa Mahmoud, an FDC diehard.

The source further revealed that, after a consultative meeting held on Tuesday in Luwero with FDC leaders from Nakaseke, Nakasongola, and Luwero, Besigye took time off to book a flight to the United States with Turkish Airlines, to go and spend some quality time with his wife Winnie and son, Anselem.

It has been reported that Winnie has in the recent past been tough on Dr. Besigye’s enthusiastic participation in some reckless political activities in the country, yet he has already suffered enough.

Another source has also confirmed that top leaders of the National Unity Platform (NUP) are already evacuating their families to safety in different countries in anticipation of bloody protests against the Anti-Homosexuality Act that will be disguised as a protest against corruption.

Reports indicate that the Treasurer of NUP, Benjamin Katana, has already sent his wife, Janet Katana, who owns a large rehabilitation Centre called Safe Places Uganda in Kampala, to an undisclosed location.
