Two people traveling on a boda boda have been rushed to Mulago Hospital after a fatal accident they encountered along Gaddafi Road near the Law Development Centre Offices.

This incident happened in the afternoon on July 18, 2024, when a Toyota Super Custom motor vehicle lost control, overturned, and knocked over a boda boda cyclist and the passenger he was carrying, hence leaving them in critical condition.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Toyota Super Custom car under registration number UAW 709K was driving at a very high speed on Gaddafi Road, and when he saw a truck that was stuck in the road, he tried to apply the brakes of his car, but they failed, which led to the overturning of the car and knocking down two people—a boda boda cyclist and his passenger.

They added that the two people who were knocked down were taken to Mulago Hospital in a critical condition; however, the driver of the Toyota Super Custom was badly injured and taken to the hospital too.

During an interview with journalists on July 18, 2024, one eyewitness identified as Kasibante said that the accident would not have happened if the truck had not stuck in the road; however, the driver of the Toyota Super Custom was also at fault because if he was not overspeeding him, plus the two people on the boda boda, they would not have been severely hurt.

“The driver of the Toyota Super Custom was at fault because he was driving at insane speed, so when he saw the truck that was stuck in the road, he panicked. His car overturned and knocked over the boda boda cyclist and his passenger, leaving them badly injured and in critical condition,” disclosed eyewitnesses.

Both cars have been towed away by police, and a statement will be released after investigations are completed.
