President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed that there will be no lockdown over the Ebola virus disease outbreak.
On November 4, the President tweeted, “Regarding the Ebola situation, first of all, there will be no lockdown.” Therefore, people should go ahead and concentrate on their work without worrying.
Mr. President, however, urged for strict adherence to standard operating procedures put in place by the Ministry of Health.
“However, we should be more vigilant and observe the SOPs put in place to control the Ebola spread,” the president directed.
In October, President Museveni put Mubende and Kassanda districts on lockdown following the outbreak of Ebola cases for 21 days.
Since October 15, bars, entertainment venues, markets, and places of worship in Mubende and Kassanda in central Uganda have been forced to shut.
However, as the virus continued to spread to the city, Ugandans got worried that the government may impose the lockdown as it did during the COVID-19 pandemic.
