Following the hate campaigns that have been running around suburbs of Kampala with intent to cause commotion during the Presidential Swearing in ceremony, the Security forces have vowed to crack down all criminals involved.
The Security forces have gone on record saying that they are aware of groups of people spreading hate speech and maliciously mobilizing people to riot against the swearing in of the President Museveni who recently won an election through a democratic process.
The security forces have said that anyone who will be nabbed involved in these criminal acts will be treated as an enemy of the country.
The forces have revealed that according to the intelligence they have, the people spreading hate speech and mobilizing chaos are working with external forces who want Uganda to be at civil war for their own gains. They have therefore devised several civil disobedience tactics that include spreading of hate and discriminative placards against races.
In a press conference held on Monday by joint security Forces in Naguru, the Spokesperson of UPDF Flavia Byekwaso said that they had arrested a few members who are helping them with identifying the lead mobilizers. Placards of hate speech were also confiscated. These carried inscriptions in Luganda threatening that the President will not swear in and that they should chase all his tribe mates. They also had messages that suggested that it is time for a Muganda to be President.
The forces indicated that they know all the perpetrators of these acts as directed by their intelligence. They refused to list names to avoid a scenario of jeopardizing the operation of cracking them down.
However, from sources in corridors of power three names are suspected to be under serious surveillance due to their continued hate campaigns on social Media. These include Nusifa Nakato, Ssentamu Mukasa and Hakim Kizza Sawula. The three people are involved in several mobilization activities on Social media platforms which makes them vulnerable to being charged with cyber crimes that include spread of hate speech and inciting violence.
President Museveni is slated to swear in on 12th May 2021 for his Sixth term after an election that was carried on 14th February 2021
